Young BM 2022
YOUNG BM 2022 WELCOMES YOU
The Young Bachelor & Master European Students BioCongress was born as an idea in 2017, in order to make it easier for students to get in touch with symposiums and congresses since their Bachelor level. By connecting ideas and people from many countries of Europe with the same (future) profession, BIOSCIENCES, at one place annually, we make sure that future scientists are prepared and familiar with everything related to their future fields.
Until we are able to film a new one, please enjoy the Belgrade 2020 promo video!

,,We are the champions"
After taking place in Malta, Iceland and Spain, it was decided that the 2022 edition of the Young BM Congress should take place in Serbia. However, due to the global pandemic it had to be postponed, but we will do our best to give you an extraordinary experience this year in Belgrade.
And WHO are we?
Although Young BM Network is not an association, a community is gradually being formed around the axis of biosciences distributed throughout Europe, which helps us strengthen ties between different cultures and people.
Academic Part
The academic part of the event is very important, so all the participants are invited to make an oral presentation, or poster presentation.
What about the theme? Both bachelor and master theses, as well as research projects and topics of scientific interest are welcome.
To make the allocation of your presentations easier, we will divide the week by themes that will include the topics that are related by their biological branch.
Of course, the presentation can be applied to biotechnology, biomedicine, etc.
The participation of professors and researchers is also scheduled. They will deliver a lecture showing the Serbian contribution to scientific fields.
Excursions
In order to immerse deeper into science, we wish to offer scientific tourism in Belgrade.
For that reason, we will take the congress participants on half-day excursions such as the Botanical Garden, the Tropicarium and the Avala Tower.
All the details will be announced as we move forward with the application process. We also think that visiting natural spaces such as Kalemegdan or Ada Ciganlija are a good idea for everyone to see the biodiversity of Belgrade.
Social Part
Where am I from?
Due to the expected participation of students from different countries and cultures, presenting a piece of their culture is included in the social part of the event. Each day the participants from the same country make a small presentation (sketch, quiz, typical food and drink degustation, typical customs, dances, etc.) of the culture of their home country.
Young BM Secret Championship
It is a tradition to have a biosciences competition to unite all participants under this enormous subject. This edition the competition will take a different form that will be revealed at the Congress. Fun is guaranteed!
Young BM Explore Belgrade!
Exploring the host city in a social way is the best way to enjoy it and have a 360º experience, which is what the congress participants will definitely have.
Fourth Edition: Belgrade 2022
Belgrade is the capital and the largest city of Serbia, built at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. It is one of the oldest cities in Europe and an intersection of the roads of Eastern and Western Europe. The city is divided into 17 municipalities: 10 urban and 7 suburban municipalities, whose centres are smaller towns. Belgrade is home to many ethnicities from across the former Yugoslavia and the wider Balkans region with population of about 1.7 million people.
Belgrade is a cultural, administrative and political center of the country. The city hosts many annual international cultural events, including the BEMUS, Film Festival, Theatre Festival, Summer Festival, Book Fair and the Beer Fest. There are also numerous theatres, libraries and foreign cultural institutions (including the Spanish Instituto Cervantes, Italian Istituto Italiano di Cultura, American Corner, the German Goethe-Institut and the French Institut français). The city is home to Serbia's two biggest and most successful football clubs, Red Star Belgrade and Partizan Belgrade.
The city has a wildly varying architecture, from the centre of Zemun, typical for a Central European town, to the more modern architecture and spacious layout of New Belgrade. The historic buildings, squares and areas of Belgrade are among the city's main attractions. They include the National Museum, National Theatre, Skadarlija street, Nikola Pašić Square, Terazije, Student’s Square, the Kalemegdan Fortress, Knez Mihailova Street, the Parliament, the Church of Saint Sava, the Old Palace, Ada Ciganlija, Zemun, Avala Tower and Monument, etc. On top of this, there are many parks, monuments, cafés, restaurants and shops. Belgrade is also known as “the city that never sleeps” and the symbol of great nightlife.
“Pobednik” (The Victor) is a monument in the Upper Town of the Belgrade Fortress, erected in 1928. It is also one of the most visited tourist attractions in Belgrade and the city’s most recognizable landmark.
This year it’s the main part of the Young BM congress logo.
Also, it is one of the reasons for this year's parole: "We are the champions".

Previous editions
History
Young BM is a direct heir of a previous congress with the same characteristics, "Biovolutionary", whose first edition was in 1990. During the 90s the Congress took place in different countries, until it was eventually cancelled in 2001.
With the influence of this event and many similar congresses, we hope to share their spirit and dive into this new adventure.
How was this biocongress (YOUNG BM) created?
It all started during the spring of 2017, when Maltese students together with the participants from the former Biovolutionary Congress decided to relaunch it under a different name and image, adapted to biosciences students of a 21st century Europe.
Valletta, Malta 2017
Malta 2017 was the first edition of Young BM, due to an idea of 10 young bachelor students.
It took place in July, during 9 days, in the Malta residence, with 52 participants from 18 countries. Many biological topics were presented and the students had a lot of fun enjoying the island beaches, seas and facilities.
Reykjavik, Iceland 2018
After deciding that the Congress should be repeated annually, the Icelandic crew proposed to host the event in 2018. In July 2018, the organizing team, formed by students from Iceland, Sweden and Norway, did a great job, uniting 62 participants from 21 countries with the same friendly atmosphere during 8 days.
Madrid, Spain 2019
The now annual Congress was next held in Spain. In July 2019, during 7 days, it brought together 68 participants from 14 different countries. They presented their research, got to meet their fellow colleagues from other countries and had an amazing time exploring the beautiful city of Madrid.
